Session Analysis
Break down trading activity by Asian, European, and US sessions to find when markets move most.
What is Session Analysis?
Session Analysis divides the 24-hour trading day into three major sessions — Asian, European, and US — and breaks down volume, price movement, and activity patterns for each. Crypto markets trade around the clock, but activity is far from evenly distributed. Different sessions have different characteristics, different participants, and different tendencies.
Understanding session dynamics gives you an edge in timing your trades. The Asian session often behaves differently from the US session in terms of volatility, direction, and volume. By analyzing these patterns, you can identify which sessions tend to produce the best opportunities for your trading style and which sessions are more likely to produce false moves or low-quality setups.
Session Analysis transforms the continuous 24/7 crypto market into a structured framework that helps you focus your trading on the highest-probability time windows.
Key Concepts
- Asian Session: Typically the lowest-volatility period, often sets early ranges that later sessions break
- European Session: Overlaps with the end of the Asian session, often brings the first significant directional move of the day
- US Session: The highest-volume and most volatile period, where major moves tend to originate or accelerate
- Session Overlap: Periods when two sessions are active simultaneously, often producing the highest volatility
How to Use Session Analysis
- Open Session Analysis from the sidebar under Analysis Tools
- Select the symbol you want to analyze
- Review the session-by-session breakdown of volume, price range, and directional tendency
- Compare current session activity to historical patterns for that symbol
What to Look For
- Bullish signals: When a coin shows consistent accumulation during the Asian session followed by breakouts during the US session, it suggests coordinated buying interest across time zones. High volume during the European session confirming the Asian session direction adds confidence.
- Bearish signals: Distribution patterns during the US session that the Asian session fails to recover signal institutional selling. Declining volume across all sessions indicates fading interest.
- Key patterns: Look for session-specific tendencies in your traded assets. Some coins consistently make their daily high or low during a specific session. Breakdowns of the Asian range during the European or US session often lead to extended moves.
- Combine with: Market Overview for price context during the current session, Orderflow Screener for real-time buying/selling pressure within a session, Smart Alerts to get notified at session transitions

Tips
- Do not trade every session equally — identify which sessions work best for your strategy and focus your energy there
- Session Analysis is most valuable when used consistently over time to build a mental map of how specific coins behave during each time window
- Remember that session patterns can shift during major market events — earnings, regulatory news, or macro data releases can override normal session tendencies
