EMA Heatmap
See which coins are trending and which are struggling — across the entire market at once.
What is EMA Heatmap?
EMA Heatmap shows the relationship between price and key Exponential Moving Averages across the entire cryptocurrency market in a single color-coded view. For each coin, it displays whether the current price is trading above or below various EMA periods, giving you an instant read on trend alignment across hundreds of assets.
Exponential Moving Averages are among the most widely used indicators for identifying trends. When price is above its EMAs, the asset is generally in an uptrend. When below, it is in a downtrend. The power of EMA Heatmap is that it applies this analysis to the entire market simultaneously, revealing which coins have the strongest trends and which are breaking down.
This tool is especially useful for trend-following traders who want to focus their attention on assets that are already moving in a clear direction, rather than wasting time on choppy, directionless markets.
Key Concepts
- Price Above EMA: Indicates bullish trend alignment — the asset is trading above its moving average
- Price Below EMA: Indicates bearish trend alignment — the asset is trading below its moving average
- Multi-EMA Alignment: When price is above all tracked EMAs (short, medium, and long-term), the trend is strong and confirmed across timeframes
- EMA Crossover Zone: When price is above some EMAs but below others, the trend is transitional or weakening
How to Use EMA Heatmap
- Open EMA Heatmap from the sidebar under Analysis Tools
- The grid displays all tracked cryptocurrencies with color coding based on EMA positioning
- Look for coins where all EMA columns show the same color — these have the strongest trend alignment
- Identify coins transitioning between states — these may be starting or ending a trend
What to Look For
- Bullish signals: Coins showing price above all tracked EMAs have strong bullish trend alignment. A shift from mixed readings to fully above EMAs signals trend initiation. Sectors where most coins turn bullish simultaneously often lead to sustained moves.
- Bearish signals: Coins below all EMAs have strong bearish trend alignment. Watch for previously bullish coins flipping below their short-term EMAs first — this is often the earliest warning of a trend reversal.
- Key patterns: Market-wide EMA alignment shifts are some of the most powerful signals. When the majority of coins flip from below to above their EMAs (or vice versa), it indicates a broad market regime change.
- Combine with: RSI Heatmap for momentum confirmation, Altcoin Index for cycle positioning, Session Analysis for optimal entry timing

Tips
- Coins with full EMA alignment (all bullish or all bearish) tend to have the cleanest moves and lowest chop
- Use EMA Heatmap to build a watchlist of trending coins, then use orderflow tools to time entries within those trends
- Do not treat EMA positioning as a standalone signal — it tells you the direction of the trend, not where it will reverse
